It is designed for use in areas where space is limited, such as congested hospital wards and buildings with narrow corridors or single width fire doors. Ideal for use with patients who need to be moved in a supine position or are unable to sit in a stair evacuation chair.

Description

In the event of an emergency the Ski Pad is easily removed from it’s storage bag. The individual is quickly transferred to the Ski Pad and secured in place using the highly visible seat belt style straps. While being moved the individual is protected by a thick foam pad. The tough, slippery, vinyl coated base means that the pad moves easily over indoor and outdoor surfaces so the individual can be safely and quickly evacuated.

When lifts are not accessible or a patient is unable to move quickly and easily in an evacuation situation, these products ensure a swift but safe and comfortable moving of the patient.

Our emergency evacuation product range caters to many different types of patients with differing needs. This includes options for smaller patients up to bariatric patients. Evacuation mats that can be used in unique situations ensure the patient is as comfortable as possible when they are moved. With all the evacuation mats, the patient can be moved without any need for a transfer. All evacuation mats have the appropriate handles and grips for carers to lift the patient safetly and easily. All aids ensure the patient will be secure and in the correct position at all times, with the use of buckles and grips.

When choosing an evacuation mat it is important to consider your own mattress to see whether a permanent evacuation sheet or overlay would be suitable.

When choosing a lifting cushion, consider both the seat and back support designs to decide which would offer you the most suitable support.

Yes, ensure:

  • no obstructions underneath the bag that could prevent the pad from falling out cleanly.
  • easily accessible, especially in emergencies.
  • free from furniture or fixtures that could get in the way during deployment.

Why is it important for the Spectrum Ski Pad bag to remain on the wall during use?

Leaving the bag attached to the wall means it won’t add clutter or create a tripping risk in what is often a high-stress evacuation scenario. It also means the bag remains easily visible and accessible for future use.

How should the Spectrum Ski Pad be mounted for safe and easy access?

The Ski Pad should be mounted high enough on the wall so that when the Velcro strap is pulled, the pad can fall freely out of the bag without any obstruction. This ensures the wall-mounted storage bag stays in place, reducing the risk of it becoming a trip hazard during an evacuation.

We recommend placing the hooks at a height of approximately 6 to 7 feet (about 1.8 to 2.1 metres). This positioning allows the Velcro opening to sit at a comfortable height for quick access while keeping the pad safely out of the way.
